The Problem

We're scaling our tools faster than we're scaling ourselves.

As AI accelerates, most people's relationships with technology are not intentionally designed — they're accumulated.

A “tech stack” (the collection of apps, platforms, and tools someone uses daily) is typically shaped by defaults, convenience, and platform incentives — not by identity, values, or long-term wellbeing.

Over time, this creates a deeper misalignment:

What looks like distraction is often something more structural: systems quietly shaping attention, decision-making, and self-perception at scale.

George Samuels identified this not just as a productivity issue – but as a human and civilizational one.

The Solution

A methodology for designing your relationship with technology.

Conscious Stack Design is both a framework and an emerging movement, built on a core premise:

Your relationship with technology reflects your relationship with yourself.

Rather than optimizing for productivity alone, the framework helps people align their tools with their identity, values, and attention.

At its core, it shifts people from:

How It Works

Conscious Stack Design provides a structured method for redesigning how people engage with technology.

Key components include:

The Stack Framework
A structured system (including the 9-slot pyramid and 5:3:1 model) to evaluate and organize tools

Alignment Mapping
Identifying which tools are consciously chosen vs. inherited or defaulted

Behavioral Rewiring
Replacing reactive usage patterns with intentional, values-aligned practices

Practitioner Layer
Training facilitators to guide others through the process in community settings

The goal is coherence: aligning the internal (identity, values, attention) with the external (tools, systems, environments).
